Stuck inside during a power outage or a spring break failure?
You can get out of the garage by pulling the red cord and releasing the operator from the door. This allows you to lift the door manually!
However! If your spring has broken completely and don’t have time to wait for a garage door repair visit, in some situations it can be very difficult to lift the door on your own. We recommend two people involved to:
1) Press the wall button to engage the operator to open
2) Stand at the base of the door and help lift the door upwards. The operator gives you an extra push and the second person applies pressure to get the door to rise. We do not recommend doing this repetitively. This is a quick one time get the car out fix.
